Helping You Become a More Successful Gardener
Gerald L. Klingaman
Indian hawthorn is a compact broadleaf evergreen shrub native to southern China. It produces clusters of fragrant, white, pink-tinged flowers from spring intermittently through summer. The leathery, glossy, dark green, lance-shaped leaves are attractive year-round.
Indian hawthorn likes full sun and fertile, well drained, slightly acidic soil. Use it as a low hedge or as a backdrop for a flower border. It can also be grown under glass in cooler areas.
